Who says you can't get anything for a buck any more?

Saturday I stopped by Re-Store after not having been there in several weeks. The last few trips I've came home empty handed. This was a different story though, after making it about half way down the first isle I saw this. A Herman Miller office chair. I wasn't too keen on the brown upholstery as I was walking up to it, but that immediately changed when I saw the price. $1. It actually had a bunch of $2 price tags on it along with the yellow $1 sale tag. Which I'm pretty sure means this has at least been there for a week. I guess it was just my lucky day, it even had a dime under the cushion which brought the total after tax to $0.96. It's no where near perfect shape, the rubber trim around the edges was off on one side. Lucy and I decided to go ahead and fix that tonight so I grabbed Lucy's hair dryer (to soften up the rubber) and hot glue gun. About ten minutes later the trim was back on.

Hope you guys like it!

diggin on digsmed...

Designer Alert! So it seems like everyday Bryant and I find another mid century designer that we fall in love with. Mine today is Digsmed Denmark.

Teak is such a beautiful wood, and I would be completely fine if every piece of wood in the house was teak. haha Especially when you see peices like this:

This amazing Digsmed rotating spice rack is soo pretty.
[ps...if anyone wants to get this guy for me you can find it here on etsy. ;p]

Speaking of spice racks, I can't get enough of the Griffith's spice jars & racks. They are just so cute! And since I haven't been able to find a Digsmed rotating spice rack for a better price, one of these Griffith's spice racks might find its way into the kitchen. ;p Oh and i can't tell you how happy I am that we decided to have that 1960s green in the kitchen. Bring on the Jade and Jadite! :D

kitchen crazy...

Yesterday since Bryant and I both had the day off [yay!], we decided to go thrifting at some of our favorite places. Is it just me, or do you have tons of good stuff when you don't have the money to get it? haha We found some really cool stuff and one little guy made it home with us. :)

Oh its just too cute! Bryant or I had never seen a set of tin canisters like this, and I think that's one of the reason why we loved it. Not to mention that it was 25% off. Meant to be? I think so! We got it at Feather Your Nest, which is another favorite place of ours. They always have great stuff. Not to mention this beautiful hutch. I have been looking for a hutch to go on one of the kitchen walls, and this was the first thing we saw when we walked in.

However its too big for the space, which is what we were afraid of. :( But if any of you all are looking for an awesome hutch, well we found it for you! Go get it! Its in great shape and the measurements are 51 1/2" W x 67 1/2" H x 18" D.

the quality goes in before the name goes on...

And they weren't kidding! That was Zenith's tagline from 1927-2001. I had mentioned before that Bryant and I got a new tv...well, not really new, but new to us. Downstairs, underneath some things, there was an awesome vintage Zenith television set. Not only was it absolutely amazing and fits perfectly with the mid century house, but it works! Bryant and I never really liked the idea of having a tv in the living, but that quickly changed after finding this gem. :D
I love old tube electronics...sooo pretty. :D
It looks so cute in the living room!

turn on the boob tube...

So for anyone that knows Bryant or me, neither of us has had cable in awhile. I haven't even had a tv for quite some time. Well that all changed yesterday when poking around in the basement. Bryant and I now have a tv! There was an awesome Zenith TV, and its even in color! I squealed when I plugged it in and turned the knob to hear it come on. I unfortunately couldn't get a good picture of it because there was almost no light, but trust me...she's a beaut! With a little bit of love, she'll be dust and cobweb free and upstairs in the living room.

smells like team spirit...

The original owner's of the house left some pretty cool things. We haven't ventured back up to the attic yet, only because my allergies just will not allow it. But I hope to be back up there sometime this week. Today, while Bryant was working in the yard [like always], I was looking around the basement for finds. Jackpot! Found a few really cool felt pennants!

I also texted Mom once I took a good look at them. One of them says "LHCS LIONS". I'm from Laurel County, and before there was North Laurel and South Laurel high school and middle school, it was just Laurel County. I was really hoping that Laurel County High School's mascot was a lion, but Mom said she never remembered it being a lion. *sigh*
If you know what county this belongs to write it in the comments!

Ummmm...How cool is the thermostat?! I love the big numbers. :D

Meet Bryant and Benny

Hey guys, Bryant here. For those of you who don't know me I'm Lucy's boyfriend. I promised Lucy I would help with the blog and so far I think I've been doing a really good job of encouraging her, but I don't think that's what she had in mind when I made that promise. I have been doing a bit better at helping with the hunt for furniture, which came surprisingly easy to me not to mention more fun than I thought after I started looking into it. Up until about a month ago I had never even heard of Danish modern, or mid-century modern furniture. After Lucy started talking about it and seeing pictures from her google and eBay searches my interest started to grow. Especially when it comes to Danish modern furniture. It seems I keep getting drawn in more and more by the sculpted teak and simple yet intriguing designs.

Having said that I found this Benny Linden Design chair from going to look at an unrelated item on craigslist. I really liked the shape of this chair and for the price I couldn't pass it up! It'll probably be receiving some fresh upholstery once we know where it's going. We'll be headed back next week to take a look at the rest of the seller's collection and maybe have a new addition to the house.

Wish us luck!

i need some coffey in my life...

Kent Coffey that is!

Bryant and I go thrifting as often as we can, especially since the new home is coming soon. :D We have been looking at a lot of [so] mid century pieces for the bulk of the house. But it seems though lately he has been getting the chance to do a lot more thrifting than me and not to mention finding some AWESOME stuff! He has already surprised me with a couple things: a cute danish modern chair [I'll post pictures of it later because it needs to be reupholstered] and an awesome set of tandem Eames style chairs in robin egg blue! [Once again I'll post pictures as soon as I refinish them]

Well today was another one of those days. I was at work when Bryant texted me about about 2:30: "Look what we just bought...Or maybe I'll make you wait." Every time he finds something, he does this to me. I love it and hate it at the same time. The moment I find out about an unknown treasure I immediately turn into a 6 year old. I beg and beg for him to share what he found and not make me wait. I mean I'm a girl who loves surprises...but I don't want to know there is a surprise coming! He quickly broke down and sent me a photo of this guy:

A KENT COFFEY CREDENZA! I was so excited! I have been ogling over his pieces ever since Bryant showed them to me one night on ebay. So now, even though I knew what the surprise was, I could not wait until 4 o'clock came so I could get off work and go see it in person. As it turns out Bryant had an inside man. His friend Chad works at one of our favorite local antique & more stores here in Lexington called Scout. [If you are local or coming to the area you have to check them out!] Chad called Bryant up when they got the piece, he wasted no time. Thank goodness!

I have already been placing it in all the rooms in my mind trying to figure out where its home will be. I want the 15th to get here already so I can arrange the house! Who knew a little red tag could make a girl so happy? ;D
